This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Social Media Response Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms. The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance. Measurement Approach Changes Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Experiences A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said. Service Background The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members. It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
