An extensive 60-day journey through Australia has been cancelled days after the tragic passing of an older woman who was stranded by the vessel on a remote island.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the group for a pause. The vessel sailed away leaving her and went back several hours later after the ship staff realised the lady was missing.

An extensive search operation discovered her person the following day.

The CEO of the cruise operator stated that passengers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were told that the rest of the voyage had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and earlier mechanical issues".

The offspring of the deceased woman said that her relatives was "stunned and saddened that the liner left Lizard Island after an planned excursion without my mum".
