It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batters to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she later admitted those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.
